Rising Inflation

22 states, UTs seen a sharper price rise even as the headline retail price inflation rate moderated to 7.01 % in may. The states and UTs reported a rise in the consumer price index based inflation rate in june.
Less than 40 percent of states and UTs witnessed a lower inflation rate in june than in may. The national average is at 7.01 percent in june.
Telangana reported a 2 digit rate at 10.05 percent . The rural areas of Telangana witnessed major inflation. Besides Telangana, regions of Puducherry witnessed double digit inflation. 
States like Manipur and Meghalaya saw sharper inflation in june had a moderate price rise 
The chief economist of India Ratings, Devendra Pant said that the consumption basket is not uniform across all states. The states were the consumption basket is tilted towards items that saw an increase in inflation rate in june versus may would witness higher inflation compared to those states were the consumption is tilted towards the other items.
The segments which saw rise in the inflation rate were fuel an light, household goods and services, recreation and amusement, personal care and effects.
