Fertilizer supplies for India
India's budget estimate for fertilizer supplies is noted to be rupees 2-2.5 trillion (FY23). There is a sharp rise in fertilizer prices due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Even so, India has secured adequate supplies of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) until December. Urea is being sold at a highly subsidized rate of rupees 266 for a bag of 45 kilos, where the government is buying the same for rupees 3000. India is one of the largest buyers of fertilizer, which means any increase or decrease in its demand will have a direct impact on world prices.
