DIAL's Green Transportation Program

The World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5th every year. It is often celebrated by most of the people around the world to show the care for the environment and to spread awareness among the people.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) will induct 62 EVs for the airside operations to reduce the emissions in the coming 4 months. This would reduce 1000 tonnes of GHGs (Greenhouse gas) yearly. Knowing the fact that Delhi is very polluted city (air) and the AQI (Air Quality Index) is poor, they wouldn't miss a chance to improve on their AQI.

CIAL (Cochin International Airport Limited) is the world's first fully solar powered Airport and they also received the UN environment award for Entrepreneurial Vision. DIAL has now set a target to make Delhi a Net Zero Carbon Emission Airport by 2030. Here DIAL would be slightly different from CIAL as DIAL has brought up EVs in the Airside which the CIAL does not have currently.

I personally feel that more measures like these should be taken to reduce carbon emission, develop clean energy and to focus innovation in the Green sector in the coming days. Despite India being next to the equatorial region, we have a great advantage of using the solar power, and more organizations where emissions can be reduced should start having a Green Vision for a sustainable future.

What do you think ?
