FBO's needs more transparency

The Indian Government on 13 July decided that online Food Business Operators like Swiggy and Zomato needs to be more transparent in the break-up of the charges included in the ordering amount. This includes delivery cost, packaging fee, surge pricing and taxes and also to share the respective restaurants contact if approved. This would minimize confusions among the customers. This was primarily because of the rising customers from the customers about the unfair trade practices by the FBOs. I had similar experiences last day when I ordered food from a restaurant which I usually buy dinner from. The dish only costed 190, but the price shown online was 220 (base rate without any delivery charges, taxes etc.). I noticed because I was frequent customer, and I was thinking how first timers easily gets manipulated.

I feel this was a much needed action from the government to intervene into online FBOs and make it mandatory for full disclosure on the split-up of each order. The National Restaurant Association of India also says it would be more effective if the customer details can be shared to the restaurants to serve  the customers better.
