Beverage makers import paper straw plastic straws. FMCG companies are compelled to start importing paper straws. Parle Agro which sells beverage such as Frooti in small tetra packs and Dabur India has already started importing paper straws. Parle Agro state that importing paper straws is not sustainable option it is because there is no infrastructure at present in India to produce the quantum of straws required for the industry so they requested the Government to extent to 6 months to setup a local manufacturing capability the percentage increase in the cost of importing goes up by 259% to 278%. The economics just does not match up with rupees 10 products also started to work on developing local micro, small and medium enterprise to be able to produce the required volume of biodegradable straws tetra packs use integrated straws that get discard it alone with the pack after consumption as they are placed into the packs they go into the recycling along with the pack itself likely it will be recycling 85% of the pack.
