Maruti to increase share in the SUV segment

Maruti Suzuki aims to increase its share in the SUV market, and is going to launch 4 new brands under it. The company has around 43 per cent share of India's passenger vehicle. They recently launched a refurbished version of the compact SUV Brezza. The pricing starts at Rs.7.99 lakh for the base varient and goes up to Rs.13.96 for the top varient. Brezza's main competitors are Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon in the Indian market. One of their USP is the mileage that they offer per litre. Maruti has planned to launch mid-size SUV's to compete against Hyundai Creata, Kia Seltos, Baleno cross and the Jimny. They also stated that they only have 2 models against 47 SUV brands currently available in the Indian Market. Japanese automakers Suzuki Motor Corp and Toyota Motor Corp are also going to start their midsize SUV (sports utility vehicle) in the market under their joint vehicle development and manufacturing program to take on Korean rivals ( Kia and Hyundai mainly ) and especially to strengthen their presence in the Indian market. The Indian road are quite bumpy and with a lot of potholes, so people are ready to buy vehicles with a better ground clearance and comfort comparitively. Maruti Suzuki India MD and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi with Senior executive Director of marketing and sales Shashank Srivastava launched the new Brezza in Gurugram on Thursday.
