India's per captia power output rebounds sharply.

India falls in the middle-income economy as world bank defines middle-income economy as one where per captia gross national income or the amount earned per person is between $1046 and $4095 in 2020. India's per captia electricity generation is up 3.8% in 2021 (1218 kWh) over the 2019 level (1173kWh) . Sri Lanka(extreme shortages) , Pakistan( at least 3.5 hours a day)  and Mongolia ( usage restrictions for industrial sector till march )are in category too-which are facing power shortages like India amid high energy prices. the changes are vastly differed among middle-income economies, some showed the decline of 10% in 2021, as against 2021, while some witnessed double digital growth. the analysis looked at median number of 12 nations in the group and compared with India( Ember global electricity review , 2022  , Ember European electricity review , 2022,BP statistical review of world energy)

As a fast growing economy India needs to find solutions to meet the requirements, being third or fourth largest in capacity terms, these numbers depend upon how fast economy and manufacturing sector grows. The sector has grown 4-5 percent to an expected growth of 6-7 percent. Industrial analyst claims that coal based capacity can regulate the current shortage, and that renewables are viable all the time.

India showed a consistent higher per captia power generation for a decade, compared to other low middle- income countries. ASper analysis lower middle- income economy had per captia generation of 1041 kWh  in 2020, this was 1131 kWh for India. For high income countries it was 8728 kWh. A degree of convergence of electricity consumption distribution  has been noticed in earlier studies.

A Kilo watt- hour is the amount of power required to have a 100-watt burning for 10 hours. For every such bulb that an Indian can turn on, the resident of high income country can turn on nine.
