Global food crisis set to drive record displacement levels higher, says UN

The head of the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said that the food security crisis stoked by the Ukraine Russia war will push more number of people from poorer countries to flee their homes, which may take the global displacement levels even higher.

89.3 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of persecutions, conflicts, abuse and violence at end of 2021. Millions more have fled ukraine or diplaced within borders.

The blocking of grain exports and related price hiking can stoke more displacement rates.
